Introduction

Blindness and the Blitz: The Unseen War is an oral history project that captures the experiences and emotions of blind and partially sighted men, women and children in London during World War 2 in a series of powerful, personal interviews.

These interviews capture this little documented part of our national heritage before it is lost forever.  Our sincere thanks to those who gave their time so willingly.

TAFN is grateful to Action Trust for the Blind for donating a copy of this project.   We used it to present a realtime event to blind & V I people on our VIP communicator server, and two of the voices on the disk are TAFN members, the late Bill Cox and the living and well John Young, now our oldest member at 91!

It's our privilege to host this project online, & we're now planning to it further forward into the future...  See below for details.

Feedback and Follow up

Following a successful online presentation of this project with discussion and feedback on the TAFN communicator server in November 2011, we received a number of war memories from our members & are now seeking new input to help the development of this page.  Are YOU a blind or visually impaired person who has memories of World War 2 that you'd be willing to share with others?   If so then please email us with details.
