How to make a quick access to your volume control on the desk top Some times the icon for the volume control disappears from the system tray? When this happens and you need to access the volume then you can make a short cut to both the volume control and to the recording section of the volume! Here’s what you do. Press the F3 key on the desk top, this brings up the search for files and folders dialog box, now just type this in Sndvol32 Tab to the search button and press enter. If this doesn’t work first time make sure your looking in the right drive by tabbing and you’ll find search entire computer button. Press enter once you have typed the file name though, usually it’ll look over all your computer for the file first. Tab then to the list of files found once the search has finished, hi light the file by down arrowing to it, then press the application key, up arrow to send to sub menu, right arrow in to this, now down arrow to send to the desk top and press enter, you now have a short cut on the desk top for the volume control. It will be called short cut to sndvol32, change the name for this by pressing the F2 key on the desk top and just call it, listen, call this one Recording control? Why Recording control? Well we’re going to do some thing to this file now so this will open the record control? Press enter to make this recording control. Now press alt enter on the icon on the desk top called recording control, here you’ll tab once, now it’s saying what the file’s name is what it’s name is that it’s going to run? Well here’s the trick here, at the end of the file name put a space followed by a forward slash, then a letter R now tab to the apply button and press the space bar, tab now to the ok buttonpress space bar and it’ll close. and now when you press enter on recording control you have the record section of your sound card come open! Now do the first steps again as far as getting another copy of the short cut to the volume control on to the desk top, this won’t need any changing from the desk top only change the icon’s name so you know it’s the volume control play side of your sound card.
