Building the garden was not easy. First the old garden had to be dismantled. A temporary bed to house those plants to be saved had to be created in one corner. The pond was emptied; the Irisses and Lillies safely bucketed. A gap was made in the end wall so that the rubble could be removed and the bricks, wood, slabs, soil and plants needed for the transformation could be brought in. but slowly the garden took shape.

The pond is being built. A man is cementing the top of the pond wall. The base and sides of the pond are covered in concrete.

The greenhouse stayed where it had always been, but once the hedge was cut back there was room for a concreted area in which to store the wheelbarrow, the flatbed truck and a stack of large pots. No it really hasn’t been moved.
