Welcome to the Big Splash. As this is the first ever issue of your monthly golf rag, we thought it would be a good idea to give you some idea of what you might find in the coming months.
Firstly, a big thanks for Paul for setting the league up in the first place and secondly, it's great to see so many new players having a go at what for some of us is a very addictive game.
The aim of this newsletter is to take a light hearted look at the world of golf, to pass on some of our personal experiences and for players to pass on tips and hints, favourite courses and anything else that might bring a smile to the face of someone that has just spent so much time n the water that they've grown fins.
We aim to have a personal profile of at least one of our members in each issue, so that we can find out all about the people that we are playing against.
We also want your input. So if you have any funny stories about a particular round you had then we want to hear them.

This week our chief golf correspondent, Sandy Trapp, gives us the low-down on the Aardvark Masters, the first round in this years TGA (TAFN Golf Association) Tour
You join me as I sit on the deck of the club house of this wonderful course set in the rolling plains just outside Johannesburg, South Africa.
I'm looking out over the first tee as the sun sinks below the hills to my right.
This is the first round of this years TGA tour. All the top players from around the world have gathered here to match their wits, or anything else they can find to get an advantage over their playing partners.
I have to report that I have heard a whisper that one of the players, who will remain anonymous, but for the record, Trevor, the hit-man, Franklin, has been heard talking about using his clubs in a somewhat unusual way.
Trevor, as some of you may know, has just taken up the game of golf after a somewhat dodgy career as TAFN's chief horse racing tipster. Some people are saying that Trevor is one of the pre-tour favourites, but they only came up with that after backing three horses in the 3.15 at toaster, only to find out afterwards that Trevor had not meant them to do this as he hadn't tipped any horses at toaster, it had just been a message for his wife about lunch.
One of the pre-tour favourites, not according to Trevor, Paul, The Tiger Weston, seems to have been spending the time leading up to this years tour working at some of his other business interests, the nature of which we are unable to tell our readers about for legal reasons, has said that he isn't confident going in to his first match against Billy, the kid Whitcombe, a new comer to the game.
One of the top matches this week, and one that I have been looking forward to for a long time, is the game between Donna Grech, one of the tours overseas players and
Ian, the maverick Mcnamara, one of England's young up and coming superstars.
The other match that catches the eye is the Anglo Scottish encounter between
John, the Owl Snowling and
Bob, The Airdrie rocket Whiteside.
We are all hoping for a great start to this year's tour and I'll be reporting on the stories in the next issue.

Our chief pundit, Andy Cap takes a close look at some of the players to watch out for in this years TGA Tour.
The most interesting thing that needs to be mentioned firstly about this year's tour is that the men and women will be playing in the same tour and unlike most sports; they will be playing for equal prize money.
There are a number of new players on the tour this year that should be watched.
Catherine McManus, from Sidney, Australia could well be up near the top of the league and her first round match is against one of the old pros, Chris, the crooked spire Payne.
But I think over the season the pros might just have too much for the new comers, but as I am a graduate of the Trevor Franklin School of tipping, I'm not altogether sure if people will believe me.
Jim, longshot Grech, another player from down under is widely thought to be amongst the favourites for this year's tour.
we woulod like to say at this point that if any offence is caused by the above document then we apologise ahead of time.
