The object of golf is to get the ball into the hole. On most of the holes you will want to start at the tee using your 1 wood so that you can drive the ball about 300 yards. Of course you don't want to do that on say the holes that are like 147 yards.
After you drive the ball off of the tee your next goal is to get the ball onto the green using one of your other clubs, most likely an iron.
Once on the green it will tell you how many feet you are from the pin which is the flag pole that is stuck in the hole. All you have to do is hit the ball with the correct amount of power to get the ball into the hole.
The aim is to get the ball into the hole in as few strokes as possible. A Par or less is the goal. A birdie is one less than par. An eagle is two less than par and a double eagle is three less than par. A hole in one is always a good thing. A bogie is one over par and a double bogie is two over par.
Before each shot, the scene will be set for you. Respond by choosing the right club from your bag. For example if you want a 1 wood then press 1 and then w. Woods are selected with teh W key, irons with the I key and pw is for the pitching wedge. When you have your club selected you will hear a rising and falling sound that indicates your club power. Hit any key (the spacebar is a nice big target) when you get to the power level you require. For maximum power press the spacebar right when the sound reaches its highest pitch.
The game is programmed to mix pre-set club distance with your indicated percent of full swing to produce your results. Obviously, the more you play and learn the subtleties of club swing percent, the better you will score.
Pretty much everything else is self explanatory. Once you make it to the green then you are automatically given a putter and you simply gauge the distance of putt using a similar rising and falling power indicator. The maximum putt is 40 feet.
This is a guide to the approximate maximum distance you can expect to get with the various clubs if you hit the power indicator bang on the sweet spot.
