Part 1 Installing and downloading reaper .
To make reaper work with your screen reader you will need to download 4 items if using jaws,
Or 3 If using NVDA.
Reaper:
1. Go to YOUR desktop by pressing Windows +M ,
I am Using Microsoft Edge PRESS M until you hear Microsoft Edge press enter.
2. Press CTR+L to go to the address bar type WWW.TAFN.O R G .u k press enter.
3. Tab to training tutorials press enter.
4. Tab to reaper Training press enter.
5. Tab to enter here to download reaper files press enter
6. go to your downloads folder
Press Windows and type downloads if it is not the first one you will need to down arrow until it says downloads press enter,
7. down arrow until you hear reaper files press your applications key and up arrow to extract all press enter followed by enter again,
When the files have been extracted a new window will open
Down arrow to reaper.exe and press enter.
8. Tab to agree press enter,
9. Tab to next press enter,
10. you will be prompted by the user account control, Press AULT+Y,
11. Tab to install press enter,
12. tab to FINISH press ENTER,
You will be prompted if you want to start reaper tab to NO and press enter.
Osara :
1. AULT Tab until you hear reaper files
2. Arrow to Osara and press enter.
3. You will be prompted by Microsoft smart screen that this file is not a Microsoft known file tab to more info press enter
4. tab to run anyway press enter.
5. Tab to agree press enter,
6. Tab to next press enter.
7. Tab to yes press enter.
8. Press enter close is highlighted.
SWS:
1. ,AULT Tab until you hear reaper files
2. Arrow to SWS and press enter.
3. you will be prompted by the user account control, Press AULT+Y,
5. Tab to agree press enter.
6. Tab to next press enter.
7. Tab to install press enter.
8. Press enter you are highlighted on close.
If you are using NVDA screen reader then you are done,
If using jaws then you need to install the scripts
Reaper jaws scripts:
1. Ault Tab until you hear reaper files
2. Arrow to reaper Jaws Scripts and press enter.
3. You will be prompted by Microsoft smart screen that this file is not a Microsoft known file tab to more info press enter,
tab to run anyway press enter.
4. you will be prompted by the user account control, Press Ault Y,
5. Tab to agree press enter.
6. Tab to next press enter.
7. Tab to install press enter.
8. It will ask you which version of jaws do you want to install the scripts it will be highlighted on the latest ones press enter.
9. it will ask you to select language to install jaws in select then tab to install press enter.
10. Press enter on OK.
11. Tab to finish press enter.
Part 2 Launching reaper and opening a audio file.
1. Press windows M to take you to the desktop,
2. Press R until you hear reaper press enter.
The program will open,
To make sure reaper is open Press insert T it will say title is reaper .
3. To insert a audio file in to reaper,
Press CTRL I,
A dialog will open for you to choose a file
Shift tab twice and choose a audio file press enter,
4. Press CTRL Home to start at the beginning of the track
5. Press spacebar to start playback Press spacebar again to stop.

Part 4 Voice Recording In reaper
The steps below will guide you through recording a voice file using the reaper sound editing software.
NOTE: The quality of voice recordings are subject in the main to two factors.
1. The quality of the microphone used.
2. The quality of the soundcard used.
There are other considerations which you should also take into account.
1. Experiment with the distance between your mouth and the microphone.
2. Try to place the microphone away from other equipment such as pc towers etc which can cause unwanted rumble on the recording.
3. The shorter the microphone’s lead the better, longer leads equal increased impedance.
4. Matching up the inputs can also help, a mono microphone into the “Microphone” socket on the soundcard, a stereo microphone into the “Stereo Line In” socket etc.
5. Remember too, it might seem obvious but make sure there are no external noise sources such as radios, tv, boilers, kettles etc in the immediate vicinity.
As you are all using different equipment, there is no hard or fast rule here, experimentation is the key.
Voice Recording Procedure:
1. With the microphone connected, open reaper.
2. Press CTRL+T to insert a new track you can name this by just typing a name for example vocals press enter.
3. Press F7 this will arm the track for recording,
when you speak you will hear your voice.
If you don’t want to hear yourself when speaking Press F8 twice it will say record monitoring off.
4. Press the letter R to commence recording.
5. The program is now recording.
6. Before speaking, leave a 2 second gap or so.
This is to allow your screen reader to speak and then stop speaking and also to give you some blank noise at the beginning of your track for denoising purposes.
8. Now speak into your microphone.
9. When you have finished speaking, press the Space Bar to stop recording.
It will prompt you to save the project enter in a name and press enter to save or escape key to not save.
10. Now press the Space Bar and you should hear your recording.
11. if you are not happy with your recording you can delete it and start again
Press CTRL right arrow followed by delete.
If you are happy with your recording you can save render your file.
Press CTRL AULT+R to render your file.
You will be prompted to give your file a name just types in a name
If you are happy for the file to be saved in .WAV then just press enter,
If you want to save in another format like MP3 Tab until you find format and down arrow to your format of your choice press enter,
Your file will be saved in your documents folder under reaper media.
Your vocals file will now play in your media player.
Part 5 Multi tracking In reaper.
1. Load reaper.
2. Press ctrl +I to import the first file, the music track you wish to use for the background track,
Shift tab twice and browse to your track you wish to use press enter.
3. Press CTRL+T to add a second track,
Type in a name say for example vocal press enter.
5. Press CTRL home to start the track at the beginning,
Press space bar to start the music playing let it play for a short time and when you are ready for the vocals to be added press CTRL space bar to pause.
6. arrow down and make sure you are on the vocal track.
7. Press CTRL+I to add the vocal track,
Shift tab twice and browse to your vocal track you wish to use press enter.
8. Press arrow up and make sure you are on track one your music track press Space Bar to start play back,
The music should start playing then the voice should come in over the music then the voice will stop and the music will carry on playing.
11. if the vocals are not in the right place then arrow down to the vocal track and Press CTRL+X to cut
Press space bar to start play back again when you have the right place where you want to add the vocals
Press CTRL space bar to pause
Press CTRL V to Paste,
Press space bar to start playback.
12. If the music is too long after the vocals finish then arrow up to make sure you are on track 1 the music track,
then when you get to where you want to end the music just press A
This will split the first track into two Press CTRL right arrow until it says the name of the track followed by two
for example track 1 backing music two Press delete the second part has now been deleted.
If you are happy you can now save render the track to play in your media player.
Part 6Fading With Audacity
Fading In:
1. Start the file playing with a press of the space bar.
2. Allow the file to play to the point at which you want the introductory fade in to end and the normal volume of the file to take over.
3. At this point, press the right square bracket key.
4. the file will continue to play, pressing the space bar will stop the file.
5. Press CTRL Alt +I Press Enter key and the program will process the fade in.
6. Press the space bar and the file will play through, with a fade in at the beginning.
Fading Out:
1. Press the space bar to play the file and at the point at which you want to begin the fade out, press the left square bracket key.
2. The file will continue to play, pressing the space bar will stop it.
3. press CTRL Alt +O to start the fade out.
4. Press space bar to start the play back and you will hear the fade in and the fade out.
Part 7 reaper Normalisation
It may occasionally be necessary to raise the volume in a reaper file.
Applying an overall increase in volume over the entirety of the file is called Normalisation , the steps below will guide you through the normalisation process.
With the file loaded,
1. press Ctrl AULT+N press enter.
the Normalise will start its process.
2. Press space bar to start play back.
and you will hear the volume has been normalised.
Remember, to save the file after normalisation.
Part 8 Trimming In Reaper
Trimming is the process of selecting a particular section of an audio track, then cutting away and disposing of the rest.
The steps below will guide you through the audio trimming process in reaper .
1. Open reaper,
Press ”Shift AULT P” until it says ripple all tracks.
2. Load a audio file
3. You will use the “[” and “]” keys to make your selection.
4. Play the file in the normal way with a press of the “Space Bar”.
5. When the file nears the point of your selection, press the “[” key to mark the left hand end, start point, of the selection.
6. Now with the file playing from the start allow it to play on until you reach the end of the audio you wish to select and press the “]” key.
7. If you are satisfied with your selection, you are now ready to perform the trim operation.
8. Press “CTRL Windows key +T”
9. Once you have executed this command, all of the audio at either side of your selection will have been cut away, leaving you only with your selection.
10. Now press the “Space Bar” to test that the operation has worked.
11. Remember, if you want to keep these changes, you will need to re-save the file.
Part 9 reaper adding a virtual instrument
Reper has a built in virtual instrument for you to use and lots more you can add.
1. Open reaper.
2. Press “AULT +I” up arrow to virtual instrument on new track and press enter.
3. Tab 6 times and down arrow to VST ReaSynth press enter,
Press escape .
4. Reaper has a built in midi music keyboard,
press “AULT +B” and now if you press keys on your keyboard you will hear notes played
5 Press “AULT +B” to close the midi keyboard.
6 recording your masterpiece,
Press “R” to start recording,
Press “AULT +B” for the midi musical keyboard,
press keys on your keyboard to play some music,
Press “space bar“ to stop recording,
Press “AULT +B” to close the midi musical keyboard,
Press “space bar“ to start playback.
