Redesigning and building a garden is not cheap and I had no spare cash. Then two close friends dreamt up the scheme that brought my new garden into being. They introduced me to Simon a garden designer. We talked about what I wanted from my garden. Measurements were taken, drawings made and a tactile plan produced. Good but expensive.

A photo of a hugely overgrown garden, the path and shed are visible on the left, the rest is a mass of overgrown shrubbery.

A small local charity offered £2,000 providing my friends would make up the rest in cash and or kind. Friends and relations were generous, even persuading their friends who had never met me to contribute and in no time the pot was filled and the work could begin.

The greenhouse is surrounded by overgrown shrubbery.
