- Launch Thunderbird.
- Press and hold down the ALT key.
- Press the F key once to open the file menu.
- Release the ALT key.
- Press the right arrow key once.
- Press the E key once to configure a new email account.
- Type in your name. For example John Smith.
- Press the TAB key once and type in your TAFN email address. For example john.smith@tafn.org.uk.
- Press the TAB key once. Type in or copy and paste your TAFN mailbox password. Be sure to enter the password given to you for your new email account, not your 1 and 1 mailbox password.
- Press the TAB key once. If the remember password checkbox is not already checked, press the space bar to check this box.
- Press the TAB key twice and press the space bar on the continue button.
- Press the TAB key until you hear your name spoken out loud.
- Press the TAB key four times and you are presented with two options as a radio button list.
- Using the up and down arrow keys, ensure that you highlight IMAP remote folders.
- Press the TAB key twice until you hear manual config. Press the space bar to open up the configuration window.
- Press the TAB key ten times until you hear Incoming spoken out loud.
- Thunderbird will find the 1 and 1 settings, you need to change this as follows:
- Type in or copy and paste the following:
- mail.tafn.org.uk
- Press the TAB key four times and make sure Outgoing announces the following:
- mail.tafn.org.uk
- Press the TAB key seven times until you hear retest button announced.
- Press the space bar on the retest button.
- Wait ten or fifteen seconds.
- Finally, press the TAB key once and press the space bar on the Done button.
You have now successfully configured Thunderbird to send and receive messages from your new mailbox. You will find a welcome message in your new inbox, which is displayed below your existing mail account.
